  1. Pick your species. Cherry shrimp (Neocaridina) tolerate tap water. Crystal shrimp (Caridina) usually need RO water and active substrate.
  2. Choose a gentle filter. A sponge filter is the usual shrimp-safe pick. Compare filters
  3. Keep it quiet. Match an air pump to your tank size and room. See quiet pumps
  4. Cycle before shrimp. Wait until ammonia and nitrite read 0 within 24 hours of dosing.
How we work: Shrimp Tank Hub publishes research-based guides. We don't run a test lab or claim hands-on testing. We compare published specifications, manufacturer documentation and recurring owner feedback, and we cite our sources. Read our methodology
